FEATURED STORY
ECI provides high-elevation energy solutions to the
Cloudcroft Municipal School District
Cloudcroft Municipal Schools was having environmental
control issues in the Elementary School. While the upstairs occupants were
relatively warm, downstairs students and teachers were in coats. ECI conducted
a mechanical system audit to determine the best solution to solve their
Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC) issues. ECI looked at
overall building systems to incorporate remedies to other inefficiencies which
could provide comfort. ECI addressed
the heating system, fire suppression, roof, drainage, and plumbing system
deficiencies and provided the District feasible corrective options. Cloudcroft School District
elected to correct all systems.
ECI was able to rectify the
building heating issues in the Elementary School by working with the
manufacturer to insure equipment operability and efficiency at high elevations. The Cloudcroft Township sits nearly 2 miles high at 9,000
feet. The system is operating at an astonishing 90% efficiency. ECI replaced non-functioning mechanical
equipment, added gym cooling, and installed a Direct Digital Control system
(DDC) utilizing Delta Controls BACnet®.
This provides the facility operators a networked system control station
to review and modify system functions and temperatures in all the Schools.
Integrated Specials Systems: ECI installed a
VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) telephone system, which is enabled to call
out to 911 and designated staff in case of an emergency. Fiber-optic cables run underground to
provide a common link between schools.
Upgrades to the fire protection system included connectivity to voice
systems. This system interoperability
increases staff responsiveness to all the schools.
Since the
project installation, ECI has provided web-based surveillance, LED exterior and
Gym lighting, and a re-lamp of the Elementary School. ECI assisted the School
District in acquiring grant funding to pay for the lighting retrofit.
